Student, The Bulmershe School
"Since I started receiving mentoring with Step Forward, I feel I have been able to manage my school life much better. I am able to stay in school now as well as attending all my lessons with help and guidance from my mentor. I have a very good relationship with my mentor, I look up to her and talk to her about everything.
"I find it good to have some one to talk to once a week. It really helps me get things off my chest that may be bothering me and having an impact on my school and home life. I look forward to my weekly sessions with my mentor and never want them to end!"

"Becki has been a revelation since working with our students. She forges strong relationships and dedicates lots of time to ensure students are supported and listened to. Regular targets are met and we have seen a dramatic decrease in challenges from the students engaged with Becki.
"A few of those she has supported have been at severe risk of school withdrawal or have demonstrated challenging behaviour but through some expert mentoring has managed to re-engage them. I wish we had her full time!"
SENCO, The Bulmershe School
"Becki and her team at Step Forward Mentoring have had a really positive impact on the young people that they have worked with in Bulmershe School.
"They have built strong and trusting relationships with students, their families and staff. I work closely with Becki and value her insights and expertise."

"Since starting mentoring sessions with Step Forward Mentoring, Student A is now being more respectful and shows more self-awareness, and awareness about her attitude and behaviours towards others and how this may have impacted others which is a great step forward. A few months ago she was talking about leaving school and not knowing what to do with herself. Then mentoring happened and she is now talking about staying at school and possibly studying law for her A levels. This has made us (parents) so so happy but also she seems more happy in herself having an idea in her head and feeling more stabilised due to this. Mentoring sessions are now the best day of the week in our household.
"Following sessions with her mentor, Student A is composed and “lighter”, happier and more engaging. This is now our favourite day of the week as it feels like we have our daughter back and we could not be more grateful for this. Every Wednesday she is telling us how she is excited to see her mentor the next day and how much she needs it and has been waiting for it."

"My son has autism and is waiting to be assessed for ADHD. School is very difficult for him and he finds it very hard to trust people. Becki has been great with him. She’s patient, calm and listens to what he has to say and he’s been able to form a trusting relationship with her.
"She is good at reading what he needs, whether it be playing games or just sitting and talking about what is worrying him. My son is always happy to go and see Becki. Being able to have the one-to-one mentoring has definitely helped him. He feels listened to and it's good for him to have someone he can talk things out with."
